How Buying Works

1. Discover

Browse artworks through our curated themes and categories. Each theme groups works around a shared narrative — giving you context and helping you discover pieces you might not find elsewhere. Use the Discover page to explore, or browse by artist.

2. Register & Verify

Create a free account to start. To place bids, you will need to complete verification. RATART Auctions uses a risk-based, tiered verification system — you only need to provide what is necessary for your level of activity:

• Level 0: Email verified — browse and watchlist only.
• Level 1: Phone + payment method verified — bid on artworks up to CHF 10,000 equivalent.
• Level 2: Identity verified via Stripe — bid on artworks up to CHF 25,000.
• Level 3: Enhanced review — no bidding limits (subject to compliance approval).

Verification is progressive — you will only be prompted to step up when your activity requires it.

3. Bid

RATART Auctions uses blind bidding — you can see how many bids have been placed and the current price, but not who else is bidding. When you place a bid, a payment hold is placed on your verified card for the bid amount. This ensures every bid is backed by real funds.

Minimum bid increments are enforced automatically. If you are outbid, your hold is released immediately. Prices are shown in your preferred currency (CHF, EUR, GBP, or USD) with real-time conversion.

4. Win & Pay

When the auction closes, the highest bidder wins. Your payment hold is captured and the purchase is confirmed. You will receive email confirmation with order details and next steps.

5. Collect

Your artwork is shipped with full tracking and insurance. Track delivery progress from your orders dashboard. Once delivered, confirm receipt to complete the transaction.
