1. Introduction

The Coucou Club ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we process it in connection with the Coucou Club platform.

2. Data We Collect

  • Account information: name, email address, username, and password hash.
  • Verification data: your phone number, and a record of the one-time code we sent to confirm it (by email until text-message delivery is connected); payment-method verification and sanctions screening results for all bidders; identity documents (via Stripe Identity) collected only once you bid for more than CHF 10,000 in total, counted as the terms set out.
  • Transaction data: bids, purchases, payment references, and payout records.
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, and device/browser information collected via cookies and analytics.
  • Communications: messages sent through the platform or to our support team.

3. How We Use Your Data

We process personal data to:

  • Operate and improve the auction platform.
  • Verify identity and prevent fraud.
  • Process bids, payments, and consignor payouts.
  • Send transactional notifications (bid confirmations, auction results, shipping updates).
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with our payment processor (Stripe) for transaction processing, shipping partners for delivery, our AI provider (Anthropic) to help our curators prepare the works you submit, and legal authorities when required by law. For the AI provider, see how we use AI: it receives your photos, the work's details, provenance and ownership documents, never your address or contact details, and may not train models on them; a curator decides everything.

5. Data Retention

Account and transaction data is retained for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to meet legal and audit requirements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

6. Your Rights
