How we use AI
Last updated: September 2026
What AI does here
When you submit a work for sale, an AI model helps our curators prepare it. It reads your photos and details and notes what they show (medium, signature, labels on the back, visible condition). It looks up public information about the artist and lists the sources it used. It drafts the catalogue text in English and French.
What a person decides
Everything. Our curators read each draft and accept, change or reject it. Nothing the AI writes is published without a curator's approval. The AI does not set prices or estimates, does not accept or reject works, and does not decide anything about you. Every catalogue text on the site is the curator's responsibility.
What AI never does
- It never declares a work authentic or fake. Attribution is a matter for experts and evidence.
- It never attaches a work to a well-known artist without a documented source.
- It never searches the web for you or any private owner.
Your data
Your photos, the work's details, its provenance and your ownership documents are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) so it can prepare these drafts. Your address and contact details are not. We do not let anyone train AI models on your data. See our terms for how long records are kept.
Questions
Write to privacy@ratart.ch if you have a question about how AI is used on your submission.
